Held on the week of the government’s AI Safety Summit, the AI Fringe convened diverse voices from industry, civil society, and academia to discuss safe and beneficial AI in a series of 70 events hosted across London and the UK. Bureau Bureau worked as one of 25 mission-aligned organising partners, delivering a hugely successful event in only two months.
The visual identity aims to position the event as inclusive, pluralistic, vibrant, and consequential, creating broad appeal with the public as well as experts. We selected sophisticated but friendly typefaces and a colour palette that balances between serious, energising, and personal.
The design language avoids technological and futuristic tropes in favour of welcoming visuals that invite participation without trivialising the subject. A cast of playfully animated tiles represent varied viewpoints coming together. The animations often subvert the apparent nature of the tile designs, encouraging us to check preconceptions at the door.
