We collaborated with award-winning architecture practice Studio Weave to develop a strategic vision for the legacy of Hull’s designation as the 2017 UK City of Culture. Learning without borders proposes a reinvigoration of Hull’s centre through city-wide learning supported by five new institutes. This proposal was showcased at the Limitless festival, the culmination of a year-long programme of City of Culture events in Hull.
Along with a branding system for the proposed institutes and the project itself, we designed an exhibition to present this project which included displays and environments with detailed three-dimensional drawings, illustrated maps, explanatory diagrams, and a video to bring the proposals to life.
The extend the conversation beyond Hull in 2017, we produced a podcast ‘from the future’ and published a richly illustrated document with our research and proposals.
This project was commissioned by Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.
